Yoga is a system of exercises that promotes control of the body and mind. How the classes are taught and the exercises performed vary widely but all seek to bring a harmony between the body, mind, and soul.

Yoga exercise consists of a lot of stretching and positioning. Performing these stretches and positions requires muscle control and suppleness that is developed in the process of doing them. Overtime and with persistence, you can gain the ability to perform them smoothly and with little exertion; at that point, they become more of a mental exercise and relaxation.
