Shower Heads

Although bathtubs get most of the attention
in bathroom designs, the shower is used far
more often, and so when remodeling your bathroom,
it behooves you to pay close attention to
the design of the shower head.
Standard
The standard shower head is designed to match
the other fixtures in the bathroom. There
is some variety in function: some models
can control the flow and spread of the spray,
while others have a fixed spray pattern and
rely on the faucet to control the flow. Most
new homes have a standard shower head because
showerheads are a matter of personal choice
and in all likelihood, the new owners will
replace it anyway.
Handheld Wand
Commonplace in many homes today, the handheld
shower wand doubles as a standard showerhead
when attached to the wall and as a moveable
spray on a six foot or so hose. Many models
offer a variety of spray settings, including
a pulsating setting for a shower massage.
Not only are do these shower heads make showering
easier (for example, by making it easier
to wash underneath your arms), but they are
also great for cleaning the shower or tub
afterwards.
Specialty
When you wish to depart from
the practical
and reach the luxurious, there
are a number
of choices of shower heads. For
example,
there are the "waterfall,"
"rain,"
or "rain forest" type
heads. These
are very large in size (8"
or more in
diameter) heads that literally
rain down
a stream of water from 150 or
more individual
jets. Or, you might opt for the
multi-head
models, which spray you from
several directions
at once -- either by splitting
the shower
head into multiple heads or through
piping
arranged around the shower stall
to "hose
you down" from the front,
side, and
behind simultaneously. |
