Tennis

racquets |
Tennis is played with two to four players
on a court divided by a low,
fence-like net.
Players hit a soft, bouncy ball
with strung
racquets. The tennis court has
two dimensions,
one for singles and one for doubles
play.
The court can be grass, clay
or paved.
Equipment required for a game
includes:
- tennis balls - usually sold in packages of three; balls
are subject to wear and losing their air
pressure
- net - a string mesh that separates sides of
the court
- tennis racquets - originally wood, now metal or synthetic
composite frames that support the strings
of the hitting area
